Fountain Hills Charter School Reviews

This school has been blessed with good and loyal teachers who consider their jobs to be a public service rather than a step on the ladder of their career. The school campus is beautiful and the vision of the administration was once inspirational. Once an excelling school, FHCS has recently dropped to Highly Performing category. Now, under a new administrator, I once again have hope of bringing this school back up to its original standards.

My husband and I chose this community to relocate after touring Fountain Hills Charter School. Our children do not have a history of doing well on standardized test. Prior to moving them to this school they were beginning to not like school at all. That has changed and we are very pleased with our decision to move to this community and be part of this wonderful school. Our children look forward to going to school and they have improved greatly on their standardizing testing. I give a great deal of credit to the teachers and also the administrator for encouraging us and giving positive direction in being a partner in our children's education. This schools PTO is the greatest!

My 3 children have been going to the Charter school since they were 3 years old. Always in the top 3% of the country in their testing, they have excelled in all areas of their life including superior abilities in premier sports teams. I attribute much of their performance and excellence to their second home...The Charter School.

Great academic program, but very poor when it comes to emotional growth. The mentoring program is wonderful! If you are not an upper class family or stay at home parent you are almost always left 'out of the loop' when it comes to updates with the school.

My daughter attended FH Charter School from age 2 through 5th grade. She then moved to a North Chicago School (high performing) and just graduated from eighth grade with highest honors and will be in a full honors curriculum for HS. It is also important to note that through FHCS excellent teaching, my daughter is two years younger than her peers. Michael has an amazing program and ensures not only an education but a love for learning that endures. The Montessori backbone of the programs are essential for what eventually leads to a broad and deep understanding of not only the world but how each child can have an impact. If you are considering this program, do not hesitate - you will see the results for years to come.

It's wonderful to have the option of sending my child to a small community oriented school, with strong family participation and caring intelligent teachers and staff, without having to pay for private education. I have been regularly impressed with the caliber of education that my first grader is receiving, as well as with the caliber of students my son goes to school with. The kids are well behaved, considerate and bright. The teachers and administration are dedicated and caring. My son is learning not only foundational academic skills, but he is learning how to learn, how to enjoy learning, and he is also learning about how to be a considerate participant in a community of others. I would highly recommend Fountain Hills Charter School.

Great learning environment! Teachers are kind and caring. Hands on learning through Montessori foundations. Love the mixed grade setting that allows each child to develop at their own pace. Administration and faculty are family oriented and encourage parental involvement.

My children (K and 3rd Grade) have learned to be self driven in getting their work done. They have the opportunity to prioritize their work; with teacher (re)direction when they need it. My 3rd grader comes home most days and very proudly announces that she got all her work done. My Grade K child is excited about reading and having homework. He spends about 10 minutes every day after school working on his homework (spelling, writing practice etc). The PTO consists of a small but dedicated group of parents. Many other parents give time to help teachers in the classroom and drive for field trips.

I'm very pleased with the changes the administration has made in the 7th and 8th grade classrooms. The last two years have proven very succsesful for my children. I wish Mr.Bashaw would continue expanding the grades served so my children would not have to leave.

After reading a recent comment about the middle school level classes, I couldn't disagree more with how it stands now. The school has outstanding, challenging, multidimentional, competent teachers that are able to teach at many levels in a variety of subjects. They all have teachers aids which allow for a much lower teacher to student ratio. These teachers are not 'restricted' to teaching to the middle or lower end student. Both male lead teachers have been here for two years and from what I understand have no intention on leaving in the near future.

After 5 years of having my son at this school, I am sorry to say that the inexperience of its 7th and 8th grade teachers has been an appalling disappointment. The teacher turnover is the highest that I have ever experienced.

Excellent academic programs and the most efficient use of funding in providing band, choir, music,Tech/art and athletic programs. Parental support and involvement, student safety and discipline rank superior to any other public educational choice in the area.
