Casy South Valley Academy Reviews

My kids have been at South Valley Academy for the last two years. They are happy and they love the school. They are doing well in school too. It is a small school and most of the staff is very friendly. I like to go to the school events and they do a lot of extra things for the kids that makes them excited about going to school. The school is moving this summer and we will follow them!

This is a school that I recommend you not send your child to. They have so much they need to learn about teaching a child as wll as people skills. They also allow for the students to be tought by aids that have no teaching degree or experince. If you want to do what is best for your child do not send them to SVA.

My son is currently attending sva and i like the school. They have a few things to accomplish, but are really growing. They have some small classes. In response to another parents review- i purchased pencils, paper, highlighters, dry erase markers, kleenex, etc. The same as i did when he attended every public school prior to this one, so the teachers are not buying all of supplies, the parents arep roviding most. However, sva does have needs-school speed zone signs, crossing guards, better cafeteria, larger parking area, nice playground/activities for older students. In spite of not having the best of everything the school is okay, and the kids really enjoy the uniformed-but relaxed dress code(the teachers/students are not stuffed shirts), my son likes this school and his teacher, more than the schools that had everything. The office personnel are very friendly. I hope sva continues to progress and improve.

This school was a challenging school when problems arose. I could never get a hold of the principal and found out he was never required to be on campus. The office staff and vice principal were very friendly in answering what questions they could. I was disappointed in some teachers that were chosen. I was disappointed when I attended a parents meeting brought on by the state to find out that the teachers at this school had to buy their own supplies, pencils, paper, books, etc. I blame this solely on the principal and lack of financial responsibility to the school. I have worked closely with Title 1 schools and am disappointed to see the principal manages their money so poorly.

South Valley Academy is conveniently close the small class sizes are very attractive they also have some very awesome teachers. The new administrator head is caring and very knowledgeable in this field. Since this administrator has taken this position some really good programs have been added in addition to the regular school curriculum. If I had to point out the schools flaw it would be the time that the teachers have to spend on disciplining the children causing problems. And I understand that SVA is not the only school who has these issues I just hate that it takes away from those students who want to learn and are doing what they are supposed to do. I have had both of my children attend SVA and with the exception of this one flaw SVA is an exceptional school.

SVA is making huge strides in all areas. They have added on a lot of new programs and they have a great staff. I like that the school is small and all the teachers know all the students. I would like to see more parent involevement but I think that will come with time as parents see all that they do for the kids. Again, I am most attracted to the school size because the classes are small and I feel my son gets a lot of attention. They have some after school programs for the upper grades and have artists visit the campus to do specail programs. More programs are planned to begin next school year. I feel the discipline will improve with more support from parents at home and school. I see great a oportunity for my son in this school.
